Tuesday Write #1

                               Is reality TV harmful?

A good portion of reality TV is harmful. Some may argue that its just a simple form of entertainment, but they don't realize that the subconscious is taking in these shows and making people think its okay to act like that. Most reality TV, isn't even reality. Shows like, The Real Housewives, have scripted fights and gossiping, or are edited to make it look more dramatic. Reality TV also demonstrates bad parenting. Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, is a perfect example of bad parenting. Alana's (Honey Boo Boo) mother spoils her and lets her do whatever she wants, like eat junk food, and Alana has horrible manners and doesn't listen. Most of the time there are subtitles for whatever the family says, because you cant understand them. Another reason reality TV is harmful is because, it demonstrates petty fighting and drama. Shows like, Jersey Shore, and again, The Real House Wives, show people getting into verbal and physical fights over small things. It shows kids and even adults, that if you don't get what you want , its okay to scream in someones face and gossip behind their back.
Some may argue that its nice to watch something that doesn't require thought, and you can just shut off your brain and relax. Even if it may make you feel better about your life for the moment, it doesn't offer you anything valuable. You could watch a show like, New Girl, which doesn't require any thought, and you wont be supporting a show like, The Real Housewives, or Jersey Shore. There are also some good motivating shows like, The Biggest Loser and American Idol. Those shows make a difference, but for the most part, reality TV is just cheap entertainment that is a horrible influence on society.

Introduction

Hey! My name is Kristin Cammorata and this is my first blog entry of the year. I am 15 years old and I live with my mom, my sister and my two cats. This year I hope to improve my writing by expanding my vocabulary, to help the reader visualize what I'm saying.

I love to read, listen to music, draw, and hang out with my friends. Listening to music is one of my favorite things because music is a very personal thing to me and it makes me happy. I also love animals. My favorite book is The Perks of being a Wallflower because I think it's very relatable.

The last thing I'm going to tell you about is my favorite quote. I think that's its important to do what makes you happy in life, and not to settle for something. I think you should always love what your doing and if you don't, then change what your doing.
